28. Road Blaster (Data East, Arcade (Playstation), 1985)

Road Blaster is first and foremost a LaserDisc game, which means that it is more about the look than the feel. Thankfully it totally nails the look. This is a super 80s anime game about a guy in a fast red car who is run off the road and his ladyfriend dies. So now he's out for revenge, and it's a beautiful action-packed ride to get there. Just watch the intro.

Things to love about this game:

- It is so essentially, purely 80s
- The music rules
- The art style rules
- Each stage is called a revenge (i.e. "Revenge 1 Accomplished" after you finish the first level)
- It's actually moderately fairly balanced for a LaserDisc game, so that I was actually having fun taking turns as they came rather than having to memorize a sequence of actions.

Things to not like as much about this game:

- This being a Playstation 1 port, the video quality does take a hit.
- A stage select would also be nice.
- The original arcade game must have felt much cooler to control with a steering wheel.
- Could you imagine if an actual racing game had this look?

5/5, are there any other laserdisc games this hot?
