18. Daimakaimura (Ghouls 'n Ghosts) (Capcom, SuperGrafx (PS3), 1990)

Daimakaimura is the port of the second game in the Makaimura (Ghosts 'n Goblins) series to the Japan-only SuperGrafx system. The SuperGrafx was an upgrade the the PC-Engine (TurboGrafx-16 in America), but sold poorly and only had 5 exclusive games released for it. This is one of them!

I've played both the original Ghosts and Goblins, as well as the Super Nintendo Super Ghosts 'N Goblins, and did not particularly care for either. I enjoyed the NES port of the original the most just because it seemed the easiest. This is a series known for its difficulty, but I just can't get into it. Every game in the series feel basically the same, and Daimakaimura is no different. Jumping is limp, throwing your lances is nothing compared to a Castlevania whip, and the enemies just spawn so fast, the whole thing feels like cleaning up a spill that keeps proliferating until it engulfs you.

For being an exclusive to an upgraded system, the game looks fairly ugly as well.

1/5, are there any good games in the Ghosts n' Goblins series (not counting spinoffs)?
